UofT Opera Alum Russell Braun makes conducting debut

We all know and love Russell Braun the baritone; what an honour it is to witness the emergence of Russell Braun the conductor. UofT Opera is delighted to present Russell’s first engagement with orchestra. Russell brings to the podium over a quarter century of performance experience on the stages of the world’s greatest opera companies. His passion for the music he’s preparing is as deep as it is infectious – he immerses himself completely and expects the cast and orchestra to do the same. Come to a performance of Orphée aux enfers to hear and see Russell Braun make Canadian musical history as he conducts Offenbach’s lively score. This production features witty new english dialogue by Michael Patrick Albano and beautiful playing by the UTSO. Every UofT Opera singer is featured in a principal role and our fabulous chorus is comprised of UofT Voice Studies students. This is a great show for the whole family, with hummable tunes and lots of dancing. Performances are November 24, 25, 26, 27 with casting as follows:
